Academic Programs

Overview of the School Day

At UNMS our focus is to support our students in receiving a well-rounded academic education and supporting social emotional needs. Each school day, students attend two periods of humanities (ELA+Social Studies), math, and science. Throughout the week, the other courses vary including circles, computer science, music, Spanish, art, and wellness.

NYU Collaborative Projects

UNMS is proud to continue to partner with the Listening Project which aims to help students develop their curiosity  by connecting with others. As a school, we have made it our goal to use these strategies to develop students in asking questions to engage in discussions across the curriculum.

Multi Language Learning

This program serves students who are speaking English as their second langauge. Through the work of our MLL and TESOL teachers, we provide students with access to coursework when English is not their first langauge. Our goal is to fade supports for full integration into the classroom. Students may receive push-in, pull-out, and consultation services to support them with learning English.
