Ms. Australia Goris was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to New York City with her family. She was raised in Little Italy and Chinatown and attended NYC public schools ( P.S 130, JHS65 (currently I.S.131), Washington Irving H.S. and BMCC). She moved to the Lower East Side in 1982 and became the proud parent of two children, Gabriel born in 1984 and her daughter Daphne born in 1988. Both of her children attended public schools in NYC (P.S. 110, M.S. 104, and Baruch College Campus H.S). Her son is a graduate of Pace University and City College School of Education and he currently is a public school teacher in a local school. Her daughter is also a graduate of City College School of Social Science and is currently pursuing her master’s degree. As a parent Ms. Goris was always involved in her children's education since Head Start. She volunteered and was involved in the PTA/SLT in her children's schools. She has worked in Corlears Complex for the past 14 years as a School Aide, first in JHS 56, CASTLE Middle School and currently at UNMS. She is thrilled to be part of the UNMS family. We all work together as a team for the common benefits of our students. Ms. Goris believes that "To be in your children's memories, you have to be in their lives today." Ms. Goris has been a member of the UNMS community since 2007. She can be reached at a.goris@unmslearns.net. |
