Ms. Alexandra Collazo-Baker

Ms. Collazo was born and raised in New York City and is always proud to say that she is a New York City Public School kid. She holds many warm memories and experiences from her elementary, middle, and high school years. It is important that she gives her students the same experiences that she has been able to enjoy and look back on.

At UNMS Ms. Collazo teaches English as a Second Language. When she first thought about becoming a teacher she knew teaching ESL would be a perfect fit. She has always loved to travel and learn about new cultures. She has travelled to many countries and has lived in a few. Ms. Collazo experienced the culture shock of being a new language learner in a new environment. It was for a short time, but her experiences left a lasting impression. In the same way her host families and friends created a safe environment for her to learn, it is her goal to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for her students so we can all grow together as learners.

Ms. Collazo received her bachelor's degree from Binghamton University (Go Bearcats!) and her master's degree from NYU Steinhardt. She is so happy to be part of the UNMS family and she looks forward to all the memories she will make throughout the years!

Ms. Collazo has been a member of the UNMS community since 2011.
