Greetings We are so happy and excited to share our students' work with you. We invite you to listen to this song that 963-4 students created and let the students (and us) know what you think. It will mean a lot to the students to know there is an audience that paid attention to their words on mic. The words are so powerful in this song; we hope you love it as much as we do. CONTEXT: Music and self contained Humanities worked together on our second interdisciplinary unit ( Culture Knox - "Hamilton" last year's video can be viewed here). This year we wanted to collaborate again for the Immigration unit. Students read the book Enrique's Journey and developed an understanding of the complexity of the migrant experience. They learned vocabulary terms like immigrants, migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees. Students then took their new understanding about the immigrant experience to Music class and turned their reflections into powerful verses using Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall". They wrote, recorded & edited the song together to produce the final product. As always, we are here to talk more and answer any questions. Please reach out and even more importantly, share this song with family and friends. The message of the song may resonate with others. We need the message to spread. Thank you, Gustavenson Marcellus T.A.K.E. Music University Neighborhood Middle School 212-267-5701 |
